About the Exhibition:
REAL FRIENDS brings together over two dozen realist painters whose relationships go beyond the canvas—rooted in mentorship, critique, collaboration, and long-standing friendship. The show features a wide range of contemporary realism, from portraiture and still life to narrative and figurative works.
Artists include Steven Assael, Peter Van Dyke, Darren Kingsley, Stephen Early, and founding members of the Realist Art League: Melissa Halbrook, Michael Ballezzi, Kelly Steltz, Rachel Pierson, and Natalie Erdelt—among many others.
About the Realist Art League:
The Realist Art League is a Philadelphia-based artist collective formed by a group of painters who share a commitment to traditional technique, mutual support, and serious studio practice. In response to shifting dynamics in art education, the League has become a grassroots hub for critique, collaboration, and independent exhibition-making. REAL FRIENDS is one of several projects aimed at creating community without gatekeeping.
