Decoding Color

Decoding Color features work by painters Buy Shaver and Edith Zapata. Both artists synthesize the world around them into large, high contrast swaths of color. The bright hues in the artists’ canvases simplify complex subject matter into just a few brushstrokes. Neither artist uses shading or a vast amount of detail in their work, and they challenge us to reconsider how we see, interpret, and feel space through color and shape alone.
