Eddie Zheng – An Organ Eve of Bach, Wagner, and Liszt
You are invited to a celebratory concert on October 24th 7:30pm at my church, St. Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church in New York City, where I serve as Assistant Organist. I will play the “Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland” settings from the Leipzig chorales by Bach, the “Liebestod” or Love-Death scene from Tristan and Isolde by Wagner, arranged by Lemare, and finishing with the Fantasy and Fugue on the Meyerbeer chorale “Ad nos, ad salutarum undam” by Franz Liszt.
We at St. Ignatius are celebrating the long due replacement of our keyboards and continued work on maintaining our cherished 1966 Casavant pipe organ, including the refurbishment of pedal stops and addition of a sequencer. As someone who plays the instrument daily, I have the privilege of experiencing these improvements firsthand. I am delighted to share this music with the hope of raising more funds that will support future maintenance and work on the organ, notably the releathering of our 16″ Montre pedal stop.
I hope you will join me for this mighty program of organ music on Friday, October 24th, at 7:30pm! Entry will be pay what you wish.
