It’s the Fall harvest season so what better way to celebrate and welcome in the cooler weather than with a short 20-minute round trip ride on a vintage train to the Danbury Railway Museum’s Pumpkin Patch. This popular annual family fund-raising event begins at 10:00 AM at the museum, with trains departing at 11:00 AM, 12 noon, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. On Saturday evenings, an additional twilight train will depart at 6:30 PM with a special activities at the patch. Also, the 11:00 trains on Saturdays will feature the popular Storytime Express. See the web site for details on these new additions and for the various ticketing options.

Ride “The Husking Bee” Pumpkin Patch train through the historic railyard in a 1920’s passenger coach, pulled by a vintage ALCo RS-1 diesel-electric locomotive (or other vintage locomotive, subject to availability) to the museum’s pumpkin patch where everyone can select a free pumpkin and enjoy some free cider & cookies. There are numerous photo ops and even a vintage tractor! Back due to its popularity last year is the “haunted caboose;” visit it if you dare! Of course, the exhibits, artifacts, and multiple operating model train layouts inside the restored over 100-year old Danbury station will be open for your education and entertainment. Out in the railyard, go inside real railroad cars and locomotives. There is a fully-stocked gift shop on the premises. The event will be held rain or shine. All details and pricing options are online at PumpkinTrain.Org. Reservations are recommended.
