DCTV is hosting a fantastic evening of thought-provoking films crafted by some of the city’s most creative youngsters.

The cinema showcase, named Unfiltered: Stories of Now, takes place on Thursday as a culmination of the four-week Summer Media Intensive (SMI), which offers the next generation access to top-level filmmaking facilities and expertise.

Films spanning documentary, animation, and experimental genres will be screened across DCTV spaces, including its world-class Firehouse cinema.

Participants from across New York City aged 14–21 have worked collaboratively to pitch, film, and edit these works as part of DCTV’s free of charge, month-long Summer Media Intensive.

This program pairs students with our expert Youth Media team and gives them access to top-level facilities.

The resulting films offer fresh perspectives that will be sure to inspire and challenge audiences. Please RSVP here.

The event is part of DCTV’s mission, ongoing for more than half a century, to elevate authentic stories and foster the next generation of storytellers.  Founded in 1972, it is New York City’s leading community-based documentary organization. Based in a historic firehouse, DCTV has championed authentic storytelling through award-winning films, youth media, workshops, and screenings.
